Allow me to forego all possible professionalism for just a second. …Again.
Another review of an animated film, this time from good old Japan, aka America’s Best Buddies Forever And Ever.
Known in Japan as ‘Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki’, this film has been talked about pretty constantly in animation circles ever since it’s release over a year ago. This is for good reason, as this movie is made of awesome.
The idea of reviewing foreign material has always been a slightly daunting concept to me. There’s much in the way of factors that make a piece work in one culture and fail in another.
With that said, there’s probably been enough cultural osmosis (in younger mediums film especially) that make these differences easily overlooked. When a film is as acclaimed as this one I figure there’s not too terribly much I could do wrong when talking about it.
With that said…Nikita, I guess.
