Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory; a classic for a number of reasons. For me, the largest among those reasons (that isn’t purely aesthetic anyway) is the character of Willy Wonka himself.
Most people get the gist of Wonka’s character; quirky, scheming, and manipulative. In my view however, there are other aspects of Wonka’s characterization that are far more subtle and interesting.
So, here’s that.
Another regeneration to confuse my non-whovian followers already, huh? And it just had to be my favorite this time. This one hasn’t even been viewable for 24 hours and already it’s got one side hailing it as a masterpiece and the other comparing it to several different forms of feces.
Which camp do I fall into? I wish I knew.
After thinking long and hard about what I could review for Christmas, I decided to go all out and review one of the holiday’s most treasured classics. Even if you’ve never watched this movie, odds are you know all of the iconic and memorable scenes.
With that said, just how well does it hold up as a movie? Assuming that my word is the end-all be-all, let’s find out.
